Overview
TimeLeft helps you plan meaningful time with the people and things that matter. This policy explains what we (IceCapApps) collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep data collection minimal, do not sell your personal information, and do not use third-party advertising SDKs.
This policy originally took effect on 2025-08-25 and was reviewed and clarified on the date above.
What we collect
You provide in the app (stored on your device unless noted)
- Counters and plans, including titles, categories or tags, notes, dates, frequency, and progress.
- Preferences, including language or region, theme, notifications or quiet hours, life-expectancy inputs, and accessibility options.
- Optional contact methods you type for sharing or planning, such as a phone number in a message field. We do not access your contacts unless you explicitly paste or type them.
Automatically collected diagnostics and usage analytics
- App events, such as feature usage and screens viewed, timestamps, and approximate session metrics.
- Device data, including OS and version, device model, app version, locale, and non-identifying device characteristics, together with a pseudonymous or installation identifier used for analytics and diagnostics.
- Crash or exception logs and performance signals.
- A push notification token for delivering app notifications.
We do not collect precise location, photos, contacts, or health data unless you intentionally paste or upload content into the app.
How we use information
- Provide core features, including counters, reminders, and scheduling.
- Send notifications you enable, such as weekly nudges and streak reminders.
- Improve reliability and user experience through analytics, crash logs, and performance information.
- Prevent abuse and troubleshoot issues.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce terms.
Processing bases (GDPR and UK GDPR)
- Performance of a contract: to operate TimeLeft at your request.
- Legitimate interests: to maintain, improve, and secure the app in a privacy-respecting way.
- Consent: where required, such as iOS tracking permission or notifications.
Sharing and third parties
We do not sell personal information. We disclose limited information to processors only as needed to operate, secure, and improve the app:
- Sentry for crash reporting, error diagnostics, and stability.
- PostHog for product analytics with IP redaction and privacy controls.
- Expo services to deliver push notifications using your push token.
These providers process data for us under their applicable contractual and security safeguards. They may operate in other countries. We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect users or our rights, or in connection with a business transaction subject to appropriate safeguards. We do not enable interest-based advertising.
Data storage and retention
- On-device content, including counters, notes, and preferences, stays on your device. If you uninstall the app, this data is removed from your device.
- Diagnostics and analytics are retained only as long as necessary for the purposes above, then aggregated or deleted according to provider retention settings.
- Push tokens are retained while needed to deliver notifications you enable and become unusable when revoked, replaced, or removed through the relevant platform systems.
TimeLeft does not require a user account. Some diagnostic records are pseudonymous and may not be reasonably linkable to an email address, so we may be unable to identify a specific record from an email request alone.
Security
We apply technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risk, including transport encryption, secure key management, least-privilege access, and vendor due diligence. No system can be completely secure. We monitor for and remediate issues.
Your choices and rights
- Notifications: enable or disable them and set quiet hours in Settings, or revoke them at the OS level.
- Analytics and tracking: use the controls available in the app version installed on your device. If an iOS version presents Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, you can later change that choice in iOS Settings.
- Language and region: adjust these in Settings to change in-app copy and formats.
- Export or delete on-device data: reset the app to defaults from Settings. This deletes app data stored on your device.
- Privacy rights: subject to applicable law, request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection by contacting us. If we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. We may need to verify your identity, and legal exceptions may apply.
Automated decisions
TimeLeft does not use personal information to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.
Children
TimeLeft is not directed to children under 13 or the minimum age in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
International transfers
We may process data in countries outside your own, such as where our processors operate. We use appropriate safeguards, including standard contractual clauses where required.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect product or legal changes. We will revise the Last updated date and, when appropriate, notify you in the app.
